We are all heartbroken at the passing of our beloved Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
RBG was a trailblazer and iconic voice who spent her entire life seeking “justice for all” and particularly for all women. She advanced our civil and human rights with a rigorous advocacy driven by passion, purpose, and principle.
It is with deep reverence for this profoundly amazing woman that the Executive Board invites you to join us in celebrating her life and all that she fought for.
Please bring a candle to light.
RSVP by replying to coach.francesca@gmail.com to receive the Zoom information being sent out on Sunday.

Colorado voters will inevitably have questions about the twenty-three ballot measures on the November 3 ballot. In two October briefings, the League of Women Voters hopes to provide some answers.

Long-time LWVCO Voter Service Director Gerry Cummins will speak about the eleven state measures, several of them quite controversial, on October 5. Taxes and the question of how much revenue will be available to fund state services will form one group of issues. Questions range from the repeal of the Gallagher Amendment, the extension (and expansion) of the tobacco tax to cover vaping products, a reduction in the state income tax rate, and a proposal that voters must approve some fee-based enterprises. There are a couple of gambling-related questions: some rule changes for bingo and raffles and an opportunity for gambling towns to raise betting limits. Voters will also decide whether to reintroduce grey wolves to the state, institute a paid family and medical leave program, impose a 22-week limit on abortion services, change some language concerning who can vote, and, of course, whether Colorado will continue to be a part of the National Popular Vote Compact. While the program will be online, viewers will be able to ask questions using the chat feature of Zoom.

Denver voters will inevitably have questions about the twenty-three ballot measures on the November 3 ballot. In two October briefings, the League of Women Voters hopes to provide some answers.
On October 12, Denver Leaguer and LVWCO Board Member Steve Coddington will explain and respond to questions on the twelve Denver ballot issues. Taxes will also be the subject of several questions that Denver voters will decide. In addition to two revenue requests from Denver Public Schools, there are two proposals to increase sales taxes to fund climate change adaptation and to improve services to the homeless. A second group of measures would increase the power of the City Council in relation to the Mayor: these include increased budgeting authority, required Council approval of mayoral appointments, and the ability to contract for professional services without mayoral approval. Two other government-related issues are creating an advisory board for the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and a reorganization of the Clerk and Recorder‘s office. Also on the ballot is a measure authorizing the city to offer municipal broadband and another to repeal the ban on pit bulls.
