Don’t miss this very special showing of “Equal Means Equal”, followed by the short film "Equal Rights Amendment - Unfinished Business for the Constitution", and discussion.  Tickets can be purchased online here: https://drafthouse.com/denver/show/equal-means-equal  (click the 6:00 showtime listed under the Sloans Lake location)

Your ticket raises funds for both BPW Colorado (Business and Professional Women of Colorado)  in their efforts to achieve equity for all women in the workplace, as well as CWEF (the Colorado Women’s Education Foundation), investing in women who are transforming their lives through education.

Your $20 ticket includes a special souvenir glass filled with Sisterhood Sangria in traditional suffragette colors!  (Or the non-alcoholic beverage of your choice).

We will also be celebrating Women's Equality Day, the day white women got the vote in the USA, and BPW Day, the day Business and Professional Women International was founded.

“Equal Means Equal” offers an unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today. Examining both real-life stories and precedent-setting legal cases, director Kamala Lopez uncovers how outdated and discriminatory attitudes inform and influence seemingly disparate issues, from workplace harassment to domestic violence, rape and sexual assault to the foster care system, and the healthcare conglomerate to the judicial system. Along the way, she reveals the inadequacy of present laws that claim to protect women, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

"Equal Rights Amendment - Unfinished Business for the Constitution" is a 17-minute educational documentary about the Equal Rights Amendment that is available from the Alice Paul Institute via the www.equalrightsamendment.org website. The film was produced in 1998 and premiered in Seneca Falls, NY for the 150th anniversary of the first Woman’s Rights Convention and the 75th anniversary of the ERA’s introduction by Alice Paul in 1923.  This film makes a convincing case that there is no cost to the economy of women catching up to men. Workers generally have failed to see gains from a growing economy; there’s plenty of room to increase bargaining power of workers generally, reducing the gender gap and increasing wages.
